Occupational Therapy (OT) for Children
Occupational Therapy at Gian Care Centre focuses on helping children develop the essential skills they need to participate meaningfully in everyday life—at home, in school, and during play. Our therapists work closely with each child to improve physical abilities, coordination, confidence, and independence through structured, play-based interventions. Key areas of focus include:
- Developmental milestone support: Assisting children with delays in sitting, crawling, standing, walking, and hand use.
- Fine and gross motor skills development: Strengthening muscles, coordination, and hand–eye control for activities such as writing, feeding, dressing, and play.
- Sensory-motor integration: Supporting how children interpret and respond to sensory input to improve movement, attention, and behaviour.
- Daily living skills: Encouraging independence in self-care tasks like eating, grooming, and dressing.

Sensory Integration Therapy
Sensory Integration Therapy supports children who have difficulty processing sensory information such as touch, movement, sound, and visual input—challenges commonly seen in children with Autism, ADHD, and developmental delays. At Gian Care Centre, sensory integration therapy helps children:
- Regulate responses to sensory input (over-sensitivity or under-sensitivity).
- Improve attention span, emotional regulation, and calmness.
- Develop balance, coordination, and body awareness.
- Participate more successfully in classroom, home, and social environments.
Therapy sessions are highly individualized and delivered through structured play using sensory rooms, swings, textures, obstacle courses, and proprioceptive activities—helping children engage with their world more comfortably and confidently.
Assistive Devices & Adaptive Equipment
Assistive devices play a critical role in improving mobility, posture, independence, and participation for children with physical or developmental limitations. At Gian Care Centre, occupational therapists carefully assess each child’s needs and recommend appropriate adaptive equipment.
- Splints and orthotics: To improve limb alignment, stability, and function for children with Cerebral Palsy or muscle weakness.
- Adaptive seating and standing frames: Promoting proper posture, comfort, and engagement during learning and play.
- Modified feeding and writing tools: Supporting independence in eating, drawing, and writing tasks.
- Mobility aids: Including walkers or adapted tricycles to encourage safe movement and exploration.
Caregivers receive hands-on training to ensure safe, effective use of each device at home and school.

Diet, Nutrition & Feeding Support
Proper nutrition is essential for physical growth, brain development and therapy success. Many children with special needs experience feeding challenges that can affect their health and progress. At Gian Care Centre, our nutrition and feeding support focuses on:
- Identifying feeding difficulties such as food aversion, selective eating, poor chewing, or swallowing challenges.
- Supporting healthy growth through balanced, age-appropriate nutrition.
- Providing feeding therapy using sensory and oral-motor techniques to improve acceptance of textures and self-feeding skills.
- Educating caregivers on practical, nutritious meal planning that supports development.
Where appropriate, occupational therapists collaborate with nutrition professionals to ensure children thrive both physically and cognitively.
Counselling & Support for Caregivers
Caring for a child with special needs can be emotionally demanding and overwhelming. Gian Care Centre provides counselling and education services to support caregivers throughout their journey. This service aims to:
- Offer emotional and psychological support to help caregivers cope, adapt, and find hope.
- Educate families on home-based therapy activities, positioning, play strategies, and behavior management.
- Build caregiver confidence and resilience, enabling families to actively support their child’s progress.
- Create peer support opportunities through individual or group counselling sessions.
By strengthening caregivers, we ensure therapy outcomes extend beyond the centre into the child’s home and community.

Every child’s journey is unique. Let’s walk it together.
